Chile will have a law regulating the use of single-use plastic products in shops and restaurants.
The new text, which has just been approved by the Environment Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, prohibits, among other things, delivering meals with plastic cutlery.
The bill regulates single-use products provided at restaurants, cafeterias, clubs, kitchens, vending machines, coffee shops, teashops, bakeries, or any similar place that sells prepared meals. This follows another law that eliminated the use of plastic bags in stores, which “helps us take another crucial step towards the cultural change we need for a cleaner and more sustainable Chile,” said Environment Minister, Carolina Schmidt.
