The audiovisual piece is designed to inform passengers of their duty to report whether they have products of animal or vegetable origin in their luggage and incorporates the “Chile Creating Future” country image strategy.
Imagen de Chile and the Agriculture and Livestock Service (SAG) have launched a new audiovisual informational piece that will be shown to all visitors arriving in Chile. It features images of the country’s incredible landscapes and illustrations of local agriculture, flora and fauna and outlines key information including the immigration rules that everyone who visits the country must follow.
The video has been unveiled just as the summer season is about to get underway. Chile is anticipating an increase in foreign tourists due to the relaxing of public health restrictions. The launch was attended by Agriculture Minister María Emilia Undurraga, Imagen de Chile Executive Director Constanza Cea, SAG Border Control Division Chief Óscar Camacho and the Deputy Communications & Customer’s Experience Manager for Nuevo Pudahuel, Manuel Valencia.
In addition to informing passengers of their duty to declare any products of animal or vegetable origin in their luggage, the two-minute video, part of the “Chile Creating Future” campaign, is designed to position Chile from the perspective of its talent and innovation. The piece is part of the Imagen de Chile strategy, which also focuses on topics such as biodiversity and the importance of protecting it.
“Chile is known around the world for its geography and the amazing wildlife that can be found from north to south. Imagen de Chile wants Chile also to become known for its contributions in the areas of sustainability, improved quality of life, and taking care of its people, based on Chilean talent,” remarked Imagen de Chile Executive Director Constanza Cea during the event held at Arturo Merino Benítez Airport in Santiago. “We’re launching this video together with SAG to invite everyone who visits our country to become aware of and join in with our efforts to take care of our natural heritage. This will be the first piece of communication that visitors receive when they come to Chile,” Constanza Cea explained.
Agriculture Minister María Emilia Undurraga highlighted the need to protect the country’s intangible heritage. “We’re in the airport to launch a video that will welcome all foreign visitors to our country. It highlights our great national wealth, including our landscapes, culture, and the food products that are prepared and produced here for the rest of the world. The goal is to reinforce the idea of how wonderful our country is. We also want to ask all visitors to declare any vegetable and animal products that they may be carrying because they could bring in diseases that would impact the health of our plant and animal heritage,” she added.
Deputy Communications & Customer’s Experience Manager for Nuevo Pudahuel, Manuel Valencia added, “The information that we provide passengers is critical to offering a good airport experience, particularly given the new procedures that we have put in place because of the pandemic. This piece will allow us to provide clear information about the requirements for entering the country. It also outlines our new digital declaration, which is based on providing a very important key message. We want to show that Chile is a country that is creating future, and the video is designed to show us as being much closer and more attractive. We will be supporting it through all of our channels.”
Finally, SAG Border Control Division Chief Óscar Camacho highlighted the importance of the informative piece. “People who are coming to Chile will be informed of the need to fill out a sworn statement in which they must declare any products of animal or vegetable origin that they are carrying in their luggage, given the danger or risk that they pose to our agriculture,” he said.
The video will be shown on all flights coming into Chile so that visitors can play an active role in caring for and conserving the country’s biodiversity. The art and animation for the video were created by the agency Smog.
