Chile has donated 20,000 Chinese CoronaVac vaccines to Ecuador and another similar amount of the same vaccine to Paraguay to be administered to frontline healthcare workers fighting the coronavirus, according to officials from the three countries.
Chilean Interior Minister Rodrigo Delgado confirmed on Saturday the information tweeted by President of Ecuador Lenín Moreno a few hours earlier.
“Bilateral relations are bearing fruit! The Government of Chile has delivered to Ecuador 20,000 SINOVAC (the Chinese Laboratory) vaccines for healthcare workers. It is a demonstration of solidarity between countries,” tweeted Moreno. He also thanked his Chilean counterpart Sebastián Piñera for sharing “the ideal of fighting for immunity in the region.”
