Step 1 – Dissolve the yeast and sugar in the warm water in a bowl, then set aside.
Step 2 – Sift the flour and salt onto a smooth surface and make a well in the center. Add the lard and yeast that has been set aside. Use a wooden spoon to mix all of the ingredients together until a dough forms. Knead for 5 minutes until the dough is soft and pliable.
Step 3 – Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap and let rest for 1 hour in a warm place until it doubles in size.
Step 4 – Knead the dough until it is soft and smooth. Form 12 small loaves on a smooth surface. Place them on a baking tray, prick the surface with a fork and let rest for 30 minutes covered with a cloth.
Step 5 – Preheat the oven to 190°C (370°F).
Step 6 – Bake the loaves for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Serve hot.
