Shredded Beef

INGREDIENTES

  • 1½ kg (3 lbs 5 oz) round steak, trimmed
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • Salt
  • Paprika and dried oregano to taste
  • 3 garlic cloves, cut down the middle
  • 1 carrot, cut into strips
  • 1 celery stalk, cut into strips
  • 1 onion, roughly chopped
  • ¼ red bell pepper, cut into strips
  • 8 or 10 canned tomatoes
  • 1½ lt (6 cups) water

INSTRUCCIONES

  • Step 1 – Trim the beef and insert alternating pieces of carrot, celery and garlic into small slits cut throughout the beef.
  • Step 2 – Season with salt, paprika and oregano.
  • Step 3 – Heat oil in a frying pan and brown the beef on all sides.
  • Step 4 – Place the onion, bell pepper, tomato, salt, water and browned beef in a pressure cooker and cook for about 35 to 40 minutes. When done, remove beef and cut into thick slices.
  • Step 5 – Make a gravy by blending the remaining cooking liquid and vegetables. Serve beef with gravy and mashed potatoes or rice.
