On Tuesday, February 9, Chile reported that over 1 million people in the country had been vaccinated against COVID-19 just six days after the mass vaccination process for senior citizens began. The Health Ministry stated that the country began to vaccinate medical personnel in December. The country has vaccinated 1,025,580 people, 376,519 of whom are over the age of 78. Chile purchased four million doses of vaccine from the Chinese laboratory Sinovac, the same source reports. “We have over one million people vaccinated as of today. We have one million reasons to be happy,” tweeted President Sebastián Piñera.
