The 12th edition of the Women’s Film Festival will be held between March 22 and 27, screening films both online and in-person.
In its 12-year trajectory, FEMCINE Women’s Film Festival, has become a crucial space, both nationally and internationally, to show and promote films made by female directors from different parts of the world.
This year’s version, which will take place between March 22 and 27, will include productions from 22 countries, four competitions, retrospectives, forums, sign languages and training activities.
The festival will open with the film “Malas que Danzan,” by renowned Chilean filmmaker Verónica Qüense. Filmed in Santiago, the documentary portrays with a sharp and critical eye how capital exploits women.
Competitions
There will be four competitions: the International Feature Film Competition, International Short Film Competition, Short Film Competition for Chilean Film Schools and FEMCINE Work in Progress.
The shortlist for the International Feature Film Competition is composed of fiction and documentary films that will premiere in Chile, having debuted in prestigious festivals like Cannes, Rotterdam, Berlin and Mar del Plata. Competing in this category are: “A Night of Knowing Nothing” by Payal Kapadia (India, France), “Las cercanas” (“Close”) by Maria Alvarez (Argentina), “Autoerótica” by Andrea Hoyos (Peru), “Celts” by Milica Tomovic (Serbia) and “El pa(de)ciente” (“(Im)Patient”) by Constanza Fernandez Bertrand (Chile).
Meanwhile, the International Short Film Competition includes ten pieces that were presented in Cannes and Locarno, as well as other festivals.
