Chilean Biochemist and Co-founder of Lab4U
Komal Dadlani earned a Biochemistry degree from the Universidad de Chile and went on to co-found Lab4U, a smart phone and tablet application that turns your device into a full scientific laboratory. Lab4U is designed to address children’s lack of access to laboratories, providing a low-cost solution in order to improve science education and allow students to conduct experiments with their own devices. The application is available in Latin America and the United States, and has allowed over 120,000 students learn about science.
Komal’s work has been recognized by various institutions. She received the Cartier Women's Initiative Award in 2015 and the Toyota Mother of Invention Award in 2017, was named one of Latin America’s 35 Leaders Under 35 by the MIT Technology Review in 2018, and was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2020. Considered a global referent in enterprise with meaning, her work has been highlighted by media outlets such as The New York Times, Forbes, People Magazine and the BBC.
Since it was launched eight years ago, Lab4U mobile labs have been used by over 100,000 students in various countries. The initiative is currently working with 38 schools in Chile, Mexico and the United States and has over 7,000 active students.
