Doctor in Cell Biology from the Catholic University of Chile
Bernardita Méndez holds an undergraduate degree in Biology from the Universidad de Chile Faculty of Sciences, a PhD in Cellular Biology from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California at Berkeley. She is the co-founder and President of Fundación Ciencia & Vida, a faculty member at the Universidad André Bello Doctoral Program in Biotechnology and a member of the boards of various non-profit companies and institutions, including Fundación Chile.
She is an advisor to Comunidad Mujer and served on the institution’s board from 2003 to 2016. Bernardita is Vice President of Chiron Corporation, a US-based biotech company, and is a member of the Chilean National Innovation Council for Competitiveness. She is an expert on intellectual property, technology transfer and health records in biotechnology.
