High-Level Climate Action Champion COP25
A COP25 Champion and activist-entrepreneur for environmental and social causes. In addition to being the founder and President of TriCiclos, the most reputed post-consumer recycling company in Latin America, Muñoz is co-founder of Sistema B, a consulting firm whose mission is to support the construction of ecosystems favorable to B Corporations and other economic actors who use the power of the market to provide solutions to social and environmental problems. With this experience under his belt, in 2019 he was named a High-Level Climate Action Champion for COP25, the first private sector, non-political representative to occupy this position on the planet. From that position, he has managed -so far- to get 68% of global GDP to pledge to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
In 2019 he received the globe’s leading and most prestigious circular economy award, The Circulars, in the Dell4Good category, during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. In June 2020, Muñoz and COP26 Champion Nigel Topping launched the global Race to Zero campaign with the aim of obtaining the private sector’s commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
In 2022, he continues to rise through the ranks of the United Nations’ global warming agenda: he was just appointed Chair of the Climate Change Advisory Board, where he will lead the global agenda to ensure that countries, cities and companies fulfill the environmental commitments they have made to reduce their emissions and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
This year, Queen Elizabeth II of England decorated Gonzalo with the Order of Saint Michael and Saint George for his service in the fight against climate change and in support of the British Presidency of the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP26. The honor, rarely given to non-British citizens, was awarded for his role at the United Nations Conference on Climate Change in 2021 (COP26), held in Glasgow.
