Chilean Golfer
Joaquín Niemann is an internationally renowned Chilean golfer who is currently 16th in the world golf ranking. He was number one in the World Amateur Golf Ranking in 2017 and is the first Latin American to be awarded the McCormack Medal. At just 18 years old, he became the 6th Chilean golfer to ever play in one of the golf world’s four major tournaments--the US Open. Although he has just four professional tournaments under his belt, several international analysts believe that Niemann is already “the best Chilean golfer in history.”
Niemann is currently the second Chilean in history to obtain a PGA Tour card and was the first to become champion of a PGA Tour tournament when he won the Greenbrier Classic in 2019. In 2021, he beat the record for the fastest round at the Tour Championship, at 113 minutes, and made a birdie from an unplayable lie at 62 yards in The CJ Cup, a highly difficult shot he made out of sight of the flag.
